Back-to-work mom Kathie Lee Gifford says she’s wiser now

Kathie Lee Gifford’s new “Today Show” gig starts Monday. She will be joining Hoda Kotb to host the fourth hour of NBC’s popular morning show.
That’s not to say she had any intention of returning to TV after an on-air hiatus of over 10 years.
She says, “I was having lunch with a friend at [Manhattan restaurant] Michael’s on Nov. 7, and Hoda ambushed me and said, ‘Will you come on the Today show?’”
After thinking about it for the next few months, Kathie Lee decided to sign on.
“For 15 years Regis and I had a ball, and that’s why it was successful. I know now that Hoda and I can have fun together, too,” she says.
She also likes the fact that “Today” is different from that of her previous hosting job at “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee” in that it is, “about other people, not about the hosts.”
Plus, she adds: “I can handle it better now, and I’m wiser. At my age, you give up your thighs but you gain wisdom.”
